Katherine Ann Moss, also known as Kate Moss, was born on January 16th, 1974 and is an iconic English fashion model. She is known for her waifish figure and many advertising campaigns and is also notorious for her high-profile relationships and party lifestyle. She has appeared on over 300 magazine covers. She was not particularly noted for her academic success, although she did excel at sports. According to Fred Vermorel's Addicted to Love: the Kate Moss Story (2007), she received one C (in Science) and Ds and Fs in all other subjects at GCSE level. She was discovered at the age of 14 by Sarah Doukas, the founder of Storm Model Management in 1988 at JFK Airport in New York City. She went on to become the anti-supermodel of the 1990's in contrast to the supermodels of the moment, such as Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, and Naomi Campbell, who were known for their curvaceous and tall figures throughout the 90's. Moss was voted 8th in Celebrity Sleuths 25 Sexiest Women of 2004, 8th in Maxims 50 Sexiest Women of 1999 and 22nd in FHM 100 Sexiest Women of 1995. Mens magazine Arena named her as their Sexiest Woman in their 150th issue. In March 2007, Moss won the Sexiest Woman NME Award. She made her first appearance in the British women's Sunday Times Rich List in 2007, where she was estimated to be worth £45 million. She ranked as the 99th richest woman in Britain. What Causes Jeans to Shrink?

When jeans are pre-shrunk it means that they have been sewn from fabric that was deliberately shrunken before sewing so that the jeans wouldn't shrink when you got them home and washed them. Women's jeans that have Lycra or Spandex fibers mixed with the cotton denim fibers may shrink after washing even if they are pre-shrunk because the washing process destroys the Lycra and Spandex fibers over time which makes it impossible for the jeans to stretch back to the shape they used to be. Men's jeans with stretch elements to them also can shrink. Almost everyone has had a favorite pair of women's jeans or men's jeans shrink on them at some point. Usually the first thing people do is wonder if they've gained weight. Sometimes that might be the reason for shrinkage but not always. Both women's jeans and mens jeans can shrink as much as two full inches all the way around if they are put in the dryer or if they are not washed correctly. All denim will shrink. When you buy jeans that don't shrink after you wash them it's because they have been pre-shrunk.

Even cotton denim mens jeans and women's jeans with no Lycra or Spandex will shrink a bit when they are washed because the cotton fibers will shrink when they get wet. Usually if you line dry the jeans, or put them on when they are wet and stretch them back out to your body shape, they will bounce back to the size they were before you washed them. Here are some other tips to help you avoid jean shrinkage:

Never dry your jeans in the dryer if you can help it. Air drying is the best way to dry your jeans. If you have to use the dryer use the lowest possible setting and just run the dryer twice if you need to.

Hand wash your jeans - The washing machine agitator, harsh soap, and residue from other clothes can all damage women's jeans and men's jeans. Wash your jeans in cold water by hand with a gentle soap, like a detergent for baby clothes, in order to get the best results. If you always hand wash your jeans they will look great for a long time.

Pre-shrink your jeans -If you want to avoid shrinkage later on buy jeans that fit well but just a little too big. Bring them home, wash them in the washing machine and then dry them in the dryer on the highest setting. They will shrink to the size you want without any risk of future shrinking.
